In a tragic incident in the Lalganj area of Rai Bareli, a 35-year-old woman, Seema Kumari, was brutally murdered inside her home on Saturday afternoon. The accused, identified as 45-year-old mechanic Ram Sumer from the same village, allegedly attacked her with a chopper after she refused to elope with him.
The violence erupted when Kumari firmly rejected Sumer's advances. Following the murder, Sumer was discovered unconscious in a nearby mustard field and was pronounced dead at a community health center after consuming poison. Police recovered diary pages suggesting Sumer was distressed by Kumari's refusal.
Seema Kumari was a panchayat mitra and the sole provider for her three young children. The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the extreme consequences of rejected advances.
