Puppy Lured, Run Over: Driver Flees Scene

Police in Santa Ana, California, are actively searching for an unidentified woman who was captured on video intentionally running over a puppy with her vehicle. The incident, which occurred recently, involved the woman luring the nine-month-old pit bull mix from her dark-coloured Honda Odyssey with food. She then deliberately positioned the puppy under her vehicle and drove forward, running over the animal and pausing on top of it for approximately 15 seconds before fleeing the scene.

Disturbing video evidence, initially sought by police and animal control for weeks, was eventually obtained from a local resident. While the woman's identity and license plate were not visible in the footage, the puppy was confirmed to be a nine-month-old male pit bull mix, and the incident proved fatal. The Santa Ana Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the perpetrator to come forward as the investigation is ongoing.

The online community has expressed outrage over the incident, with the video garnering significant attention. Penalties for intentionally killing a dog in California can include substantial fines and jail time. Similar severe penalties apply in Australia for animal cruelty offenses.
