Dionne Marie Hanna, a Singapore resident, faces an escalating legal battle with 39 fraud charges related to alleged deceitful practices. The 85-year-old woman has reportedly conned 14 individuals, including her long-estranged son, Graham Hornigold, a pastry chef. These victims claim Hanna promised reimbursement through an inheritance from the Brunei royal family to fund her opulent lifestyle.
Her alleged schemes involved tricking one man into paying hundreds of thousands for expenses, promising to make him her stepson. Another accusation details Hanna promising luxury items like cars and property in exchange for 'processing fees'. Previously, she deceived individuals in Singapore and France, citing legal fees and bank account openings, while claiming terminal illness and royal ties.
Hanna's case gained broader recognition following her appearance in the Netflix documentary 'Con Mum', which chronicled her reunion with Hornigold and his skepticism about her royal claims. The film also suggests prior fraud convictions in the UK. A pre-trial conference for her current charges is scheduled for May.
