Woman Arrested for Rs 1.5 Crore Extortion via Honey Trap

Goregaon police have arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with an alleged extortion scheme amounting to ₹1.5 crore from a prominent city lawyer. The accused reportedly ensnared the lawyer in a honey trap, subsequently blackmailing him. The lawyer reported that their association began in May 2024, introduced by a mutual friend. He transferred money to her on multiple occasions, initially for purported family medical needs and later for modeling expenses.

Despite being informed of the lawyer's marital status, the accused allegedly persisted in demanding significant sums, citing work-related expenses and even accompanying him on a trip to Bali. When the lawyer attempted to end the association due to escalating financial demands, the woman allegedly began sending obscene photos and threatening to file false cases of molestation and sexual assault. She also threatened social media and societal defamation.

Fearing reputational damage, the lawyer reportedly paid an additional ₹15 lakh between July 2024 and July 2025. Overwhelmed by the continuous threats, he filed a complaint in October. The accused, identified as a resident of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, was arrested on December 11 and remanded to police custody. Authorities are currently conducting an operation to apprehend four identified family members who are alleged co-conspirators.
