26 Nov
Summary
- She received a life sentence for stabbing her boyfriend to death.
- The suspect attempted to make the stabbing look like self-inflicted.
- Her extensive criminal past was a factor in the sentencing.

Samantha Krebs, 40, of Appleton, Wisconsin, was sentenced to life in prison for the 2024 killing of her boyfriend, Joey Carnot. She will be eligible for extended supervision after serving 36 years. Witnesses reported that Krebs, after stabbing Carnot, tried to create a narrative suggesting he had inflicted the wound himself.
Prosecutors emphasized Krebs's extensive criminal record, which includes 37 convictions over more than a decade for charges like drug possession and battery. Her status on probation at the time of Carnot's death was also cited as evidence of her continued public risk.
During the sentencing, Carnot's family shared their profound grief. Krebs maintained her innocence regarding responsibility for his death, attributing her actions to being 'high and in shock' but acknowledged poor decision-making. The judge rejected her claims, citing her history in drug culture as a precursor to potential violence, and ordered her to pay over $8,000 in restitution.
