28 May
Summary

Michael J. Hurlburt, 27, faces charges for the alleged stabbing death of his mother, Lisa M. Bragg-Hurlburt, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Police responded to the scene on Friday evening after Hurlburt called 911 to report the homicide himself.
During the call, Hurlburt allegedly admitted to stabbing his mother approximately 40 times with a kitchen knife. He later told investigators he decided to kill his mother earlier that day but made a stop at Dairy Queen for a final meal beforehand.
Hurlburt also claimed he believed he was being 'gang stalked' and attributed his actions partly to his mother making him 'crazy.' The autopsy confirmed 44 stab wounds, primarily to her neck and upper back.
Bragg-Hurlburt was remembered as a dedicated library director and advocate for those in need. Hurlburt, who has prior charges including terrorist threats, is held on a $1 million bond and is due back in court in July.
