Lyz Hall, 46, owner of Hallswood Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk, has been charged with 15 animal welfare offences. The charges stem from an investigation by Norfolk Police and the RSPCA following a visit to the sanctuary. Among the accusations are the possession and use of unauthorized veterinary medicines.
Further charges involve the illegal keeping of living wild birds, as well as the keeping, release, or escape of specific wildlife, including grey squirrels and a muntjac deer. Following the investigation, authorities seized animals from the site for veterinary examination, and some were subsequently euthanized due to welfare concerns.
Hallswood Animal Sanctuary, a not-for-profit organization, was originally founded in 1996. Lyz Hall assumed ownership and management after the passing of her husband, Keith Hall, in 2010. Lyz Hall is expected to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on August 25.
