A California court has ordered Yolanda Marodi, 54, to stand trial for the murder of her wife, Cal Fire Captain Rebecca 'Becky' Marodi, 49. Becky was discovered with 23 stab wounds in their San Diego residence on February 17, 2025.
Surveillance footage captured Becky's final moments, where she pleaded with Yolanda, saying, 'I don't want to die,' and asked her to call 911. Yolanda responded dismissively before fleeing the scene and escaping to Mexico.
Lorena Marodi, Becky's mother, discovered her daughter's body and alerted authorities. Court records suggest Becky intended to leave the marriage. Yolanda previously served time for voluntary manslaughter in the 2000 death of her husband.
Friends of Becky expressed concern about Yolanda's controlling behavior, noting that Becky had become increasingly isolated in the months leading up to her death. Yolanda has pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charges.
