A tragic case unfolded in Andhra Pradesh where a marriage, reportedly soured by an extramarital affair, culminated in murder. Lokam Shivanagaraju, an onion trader, was allegedly killed by his wife, Lakshmimadhuri, on the night of January 18, 2026.
Investigators claim Lakshmimadhuri administered approximately 20 sleeping pills in her husband's dinner. Later, while her lover, Gopi, held Shivanagaraju down, she smothered him with a pillow. The couple had been married since 2007 and had two sons.
Tensions had been high for years after Lakshmimadhuri began an affair with Gopi, a car travel operator. She reportedly disapproved of her husband's onion trading business and had him move to Hyderabad for work.
Following the murder, Lakshmimadhuri allegedly watched pornographic videos before raising an alarm at dawn, claiming her husband died of a heart attack. Suspicious neighbours noted injuries, and an autopsy confirmed death by suffocation, leading to the wife's arrest.
