On October 29, 2025, Telangana Police received a missing-person complaint from a woman named Fatima regarding her husband, Mantri Shyam. Launching an intensive investigation, the police traced the victim to Banjara Hills on October 31.

Shyam later revealed that his wife, M Madhavi Latha, was the mastermind behind the abduction. Latha had allegedly hired a man named Vundy Durga Vinay and others to monitor Shyam and eventually kidnap him for a ransom of Rs 1 crore. The kidnappers took Shyam to Vijayawada on October 30 and demanded the ransom, but he managed to escape the following day before the money could be collected.

Police have arrested a total of 10 people, including Latha, for their involvement in the kidnapping plot. They seized three cars, two two-wheelers, and several cell phones from the accused. Latha allegedly intended to seize her husband's properties by forcing him to sign documents and later planned to eliminate him. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanita at the Amberpet Police Station, and the investigation is ongoing.
