A violent incident unfolded Friday night in Westlake, resulting in the death of one woman and serious injury to another. The shooting took place near an indoor swap meet at approximately 6 p.m. The two victims were standing outside when the assailant approached and fired shots before fleeing.
Emergency services, including Los Angeles police and firefighters, responded swiftly to the scene near Sixth and Bonnie Brae streets. Upon arrival, one victim was conscious and breathing but both were transported to a local hospital. Tragically, one of the women succumbed to her injuries, while the other is currently listed in stable condition.
The assailant, described only as having fled on foot, remains unidentified and at large. Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting. The Los Angeles Police Department is actively seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation.
