Winnipeg police have charged seven individuals following a raid on a suspected drug trafficking house on Young Street, responding to persistent complaints from West Broadway residents. The operation, executed earlier this week, uncovered a cache of illegal items within the multi-suite residence.
During the search, officers confiscated approximately one ounce of fentanyl and two grams of crack cocaine, alongside $1,640 in cash. The seizure also included two sawed-off shotguns, ammunition, and several swords or machetes. Two men and five women are now facing multiple drug trafficking and firearm-related charges.
Community members expressed relief, having observed large crowds and illicit activity for months. Residents described witnessing unresponsive individuals in streets and backyards, and experiencing open drug use, theft, and property damage, which made them feel unsafe walking in the area.
