Voice Alum Faces Homicide Charges After Deadly Crash

Singer Kata Hay, a former contestant on "The Voice," was booked on January 9, 2026, on charges including vehicular homicide. Oklahoma authorities arrested Hay in December, and she was subsequently extradited to Nashville. The charges stem from an incident on Long Hollow Pike near I-65, where she allegedly hit two vehicles and fled the scene.
The accident resulted in the death of 82-year-old Gayle Nichols on December 12, 2025. Hay faces two felony charges for vehicular homicide and aggravated homicide with a vehicle. She was previously arrested for a DUI in 2017 and served prison time after pleading guilty to a sexual contact with a minor charge in 2022.
