An FIR has been lodged at Hastings Police Station in Kolkata following a serious threat made against the Victoria Memorial Hall (VMH). The complaint was filed by the VMH administration after a threatening message was received on their official Facebook page last Friday. This digital threat followed an earlier email warning of violence and an explosion at the iconic heritage monument.
Kolkata Police responded promptly, conducting an extensive search of the Victoria Memorial premises last Friday after evacuating visitors and staff. While nothing alarming was discovered during the search, the investigation into the origin of both the email and the social media post is actively underway. Authorities are examining technical details and electronic trails to identify the perpetrator.
The threatening email, received on March 5 at 8:32 PM from a suspicious address, explicitly mentioned "2025" as the target year for an attack involving crushing, stabbing, shooting, and detonation at the building museum. The VMH security in-charge identified the sender's email as potentially linked to an individual named Vivek Saykar.
