Father's Outrage: "Disgusting" Testing of Stabbing Victims
26 Mar
Summary
- Victims were tested for drugs and alcohol, but the attacker was not.
- Families were asked to sign forms that allowed sample collection without full consent.
- Police officers were disciplined for sharing offensive messages about the victims.

The father of a university student killed in a stabbing attack has voiced his "disgust" at a public inquiry. He highlighted the unsettling fact that his daughter and her friend, who were victims of the attack, underwent drug and alcohol testing, while the perpetrator was not subjected to the same. This disparity in testing protocols has caused significant distress to the grieving families.
The inquiry heard that medical records of the victims were accessed inappropriately after their deaths. Moreover, family members revealed they were asked to sign "human tissue forms" to release the bodies, which they later understood also permitted sample collection without full awareness. This practice has been described as "disgusting" by one parent. Nottinghamshire Police have since apologized for failing to obtain toxicology samples from the attacker.
Adding to the families' anguish, it emerged that police officers had shared offensive messages about the attacks in a WhatsApp group chat. These officers have been disciplined. The ongoing inquiry is examining the events leading up to the attacks and the response from various agencies, aiming to provide clarity and accountability for the tragic loss of life.
