Veteran Crime Reporter Selvaraj Arunachalam's Illustrious 31-Year Career Celebrated

As of 2025-11-08, a group of suspects attacked an employee at a petrol pump in Ponmar, under the Thalambur police limits, and escaped with the victim's mobile phone and ₹14,000. Separate cases have been registered for theft and attempted theft based on the complaints received, and the police are currently tracking the suspects' movements using CCTV footage and digital evidence.

In a separate development, Selvaraj Arunachalam, a veteran journalist with over 31 years of experience in crime reporting across leading Tamil and English newspapers, is being celebrated for his illustrious career. Arunachalam has covered historic events, including the deaths of former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi, the IPL betting scam, and the Kanchi Seer Sankararaman murder case. He has also featured in international documentaries on Netflix and Bloomberg, speaking on high-profile cases such as idol smuggler Subhash Kapoor and conman Sukesh Chandrasekar. Beyond journalism, Arunachalam has acted in three films, trained over 200 budding journalists, directed short films, and authored the English crime-poetry collection Chilled Love. His contributions have earned him the TOI Scribe Award and the Humanitarian Award from former Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan.
