A 75-year-old veteran, Lloyd Poole, remains in a coma following an alleged assault by a DoorDash driver on December 28 in Wixom, Michigan. Poole had reportedly asked the driver, Ryan Turner, to slow down while he was walking his dogs. Turner, who was reportedly making deliveries, is accused of stopping his vehicle, confronting Poole, and striking him on the head, causing him to fall and sustain a severe injury.
Poole was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery to reduce swelling in his brain, which included the removal of a portion of his skull. His daughter expressed concern about his condition and the potential for infection, stating that updates have been scarce. The incident was captured on a neighbor's security camera.
Ryan Turner, 40, has confessed to striking Poole and leaving him on the street, claiming self-defense. He faces charges of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor, and has a prior record including assault and driving offenses. DoorDash has publicly condemned the incident, calling it 'appalling and unacceptable,' and has permanently banned the driver from their platform while cooperating with law enforcement.
