Varanasi police have achieved a significant breakthrough by cracking a gold jewellery theft case valued at Rs 3 crore, successfully recovering 100% of the stolen items and apprehending five suspects.
The incident occurred on January 5 at a showroom in the Chowk area, leading to the theft of gold jewellery worth crores. Following a complaint filed on January 6, a case was registered, and a dedicated police team was formed to investigate.
Through meticulous examination of CCTV footage and surveillance data, combined with information from a special informer, the police arrested Deepesh Chauhan, Vikas Benvanshi, Shubham Vishwakarma, Sainuddin Ansari, and Tarak Ghorai. The recovered treasure includes necklaces, earrings, nose rings, rings, mangalsutra lockets, brijbali, and guti jhumka, totaling 2122 grams.
