Cyber Crime Police in Varanasi have dismantled an online gambling syndicate operating near Sadbhavana Park. Eight individuals were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly managing betting activities via the Bhagya Lakshmi app and an associated website. During the raid, authorities confiscated Rs. 68,275 in cash and 11 mobile phones.
The arrested individuals, identified as residents of Sadar Bazaar Cantt and Dashashwamedh areas, are accused of running a sophisticated betting network. They contacted customers, shared website links, and facilitated number-based bets after receiving payments. Digital evidence recovered from seized phones suggests the gang analyzed frequently chosen numbers and manipulated outcomes to their financial advantage, causing losses to players.
Police are actively pursuing the main mastermind behind the racket and are working to identify other members, financial beneficiaries, and technical collaborators. The investigation is ongoing, with detailed digital forensic analysis of the recovered devices expected to yield further crucial leads and enable strict legal action.
