Uttarakhand Police Defend Resort Murder Probe

Amid renewed protests linked to a recent appointment, Uttarakhand police have presented a detailed defence of their investigation into a 2022 resort murder case. Law enforcement emphasized their prompt response, with all three accused individuals apprehended within 24 hours of the incident's discovery.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), was immediately established to ensure a thorough investigation. The SIT diligently collected and analyzed digital, technical, forensic, and physical evidence, alongside interrogations and witness statements.
The investigation concluded in 88 days, culminating in the submission of a detailed, 500-page chargesheet. Demonstrating the strength of the collected evidence and effective prosecution arguments, an additional district and sessions court in Kotdwar convicted all three accused—Pulkit Arya, Saurabh Bhaskar, and Ankit Gupta—on May 30, 2025. They were subsequently sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment.
