In Tooele City, Utah, Daniel Ruesga, 37, has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of his girlfriend, Silvia Bahena-Mota, 37. Authorities discovered Bahena-Mota deceased inside her Tesla, which had been crashed into inside her garage. Ruesga allegedly confessed to investigators that he intentionally crashed into the vehicle and then shot Bahena-Mota multiple times after an argument.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, August 31, with Bahena-Mota's four children present inside the home. They reportedly heard the altercation and the subsequent shooting. Ruesga has a history of domestic violence-related issues, having pleaded no contest to a property damage charge in June 2025. This charge included a domestic violence enhancement, and he was placed on probation.
Silvia Bahena-Mota is remembered by her family and friends as a dedicated single mother who worked tirelessly for her children, ages 4, 9, 10, and 14. A GoFundMe has been established to support them. Ruesga also held a position as a licensed real estate agent and was an ambassador for the Tooele Chamber of Commerce.
