USC Student Confesses to Drugging and Sexually Assaulting Three Women

According to a prosecutor's motion filed on September 2, 2025, a University of Southern California (USC) doctoral student, Sizhe "Steven" Weng, 30, has allegedly confessed to drugging and sexually assaulting three women. The alleged assaults occurred while Weng was enrolled as a doctoral student at USC between 2021 and 2024.
Weng has been charged with forcible rape, sodomy by controlled substance or anesthesia, rape by controlled substance, and sexual penetration by controlled substance or anesthesia. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor's motion states that Weng's alleged victims include two friends from China and a classmate in his doctoral program.
The investigation began after the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a tip from German authorities about the student. Police searched Weng's residence and allegedly discovered sexually explicit Polaroid images, as well as midazolam, leather straps, syringes, red tubing, and dental mouth devices, which were reportedly used in the alleged assaults.
USC has stated that they are cooperating with the police investigation and have already taken steps to bar Weng from the campus pending the resolution of the criminal proceedings. The LAPD suspects that there may be additional victims and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
