On Wednesday, February 4th, a U.S. Marshal agent allegedly kicked a dog named Yoshi during the arrest of Jaquize Henderson, who had an active warrant for his arrest.
The incident occurred at a Memphis apartment complex, as captured on video by the dog's owner, Emma Hollingsworth, and a nearby camera. Hollingsworth reported that her 9-month-old Schnauzer was kicked forcefully without provocation.
Following the incident, Yoshi was taken to a veterinarian and diagnosed with a broken rib. The dog is currently undergoing treatment and taking medication.
The U.S. Marshals Service issued a statement acknowledging the video and explaining the agent's actions. They stated that the dog had escaped an apartment and repeatedly attempted to attack a working K9 unit.
According to the agency, the owner failed to restrain the aggressive animal. The Marshals Service characterized the kick as a "last-resort, split-second action" necessary to control the environment and neutralize a safety threat.
The agency emphasized that uncontrolled, aggressive animals can impede official duties and pose a risk, reminding dog owners of the importance of keeping pets leashed at all times.
