The Bareilly range of Uttar Pradesh has organized a Mission Shakti skill workshop to bolster crime prevention against women. Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna inaugurated the event virtually, emphasizing the need for Mission Shakti centers to become trusted brands through continuous training and simplified procedures. He highlighted that sensitivity and empathy are crucial in the initial interactions with survivors.
The workshop, encompassing Bareilly, Budaun, Pilibhit, and Shahjahanpur districts, reported positive outcomes from awareness drives and pre-FIR counseling. Tangible results include a 33% decrease in rape cases and a 13% reduction in dowry deaths, underscoring the impact of dialogue and community outreach alongside strict enforcement.
Mission Shakti centers are collaborating with legal services authorities for free legal aid and with hospitals for timely medical assistance. To improve outreach and mobility, plans are underway to equip each police station with four scooters for Mission Shakti teams, reinforcing their operational capacity.
