Police in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar apprehended two wanted suspects, Waleen and Salman, on September 6 following an encounter in the Chhapaar police station area. The two men were injured during retaliatory firing by police in the Reta Nangla village forests and subsequently arrested.
They were sought in connection with the alleged abduction and rape of a 14-year-old girl on the night of September 4. The victim reportedly went to a temple during Janmashtami celebrations when she was allegedly abducted. A case was registered, and the main accused, Sameer, was arrested on the same day, with Waleen and Salman remaining at large until the recent encounter.
During the search operation, the suspects allegedly fired at the police team. Despite warnings, they continued their firing, leading to the police firing back. Both sustained gunshot injuries and were apprehended. Authorities recovered two illegal .315-bore pistols, two live cartridges, and two spent cartridges from their possession.
