Birthday Tragedy: Unsolved Sub-Machine Gun Murder
6 Jan
Summary
- Sam Rimmer was fatally shot on his birthday two years ago.
- The murder weapon was a Czech-made Skorpion sub-machine gun.
- Ten people have been arrested, but no one has been charged.

The mother of Sam Rimmer described his birthday as a "painful reminder of his absence" as his sub-machine gun murder, which occurred on August 16, 2022, remains unsolved. Sam would have turned 26 on January 6, a date that was also his mother's 50th birthday.
Detectives suspect the 22-year-old was not the intended victim of the shooting in the Dingle area of Liverpool. The gunman was reportedly one of four individuals on two electric bikes, firing at least eight shots, one of which fatally struck Sam. The weapon used was identified as a Skorpion sub-machine gun.
While ten people have been arrested in connection with the murder, none have been charged. Merseyside Police continue their investigation, determined to bring those responsible to justice and offer closure to Sam’s grieving family.
