Authorities discovered a fortified underground bunker containing a substantial cache of illegal firearms and ammunition while investigating a suspected marijuana cultivation operation. The discovery was made on January 20th on a property in Anderson.
The bunker, accessed via a long culvert, was equipped with power, ventilation, and supplies for growing marijuana. Officials seized multiple illegal firearms, including assault rifles, a sawed-off shotgun, and firearms reported stolen. Additionally, 30 high-capacity magazines and approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Michael Kamfolt, 40, was arrested and now faces nearly a dozen weapons charges, including possession of an assault rifle and manufacturing a ghost gun. The California Highway Patrol stated the operation highlighted a significant threat to public safety beyond just illegal drug cultivation.
