Two Romanian nationals have received significant prison sentences in London for their role in a targeted stabbing attack on a journalist. The men, identified as Nandito Badea, 21, and George Stana, 25, were found guilty of wounding with intent at London's Woolwich Crown Court in June 2024.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Badea and Stana acted as proxies for the Iranian government. The victim, Pouria Zeraati, a British journalist of Iranian origin working for Iran International, was stabbed three times in the leg near his southwest London residence in March 2024. Badea was sentenced to 8 years in jail, and Stana received a 12-year sentence for their involvement in the attack.
