Two British citizens, Dr Hassan Amman Saleem and Dr Sumitra Shakeel Olivia, have been arrested in India after allegedly crossing the border from Nepal without proper visas. The incident took place at the Rupaidiha border crossing in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities apprehended the two doctors, who were reportedly on a medical mission in Nepal with the Britain Nepal Otology Service charity. They were detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal and local police after failing to present valid Indian visas.
Both doctors have been handed over to the Rupaideha police station, and a case has been registered under India's Passport Act. They are expected to be presented before a court, facing legal consequences for their unauthorized entry into the country.
