Udaipur police have apprehended three men involved in a significant heist on March 15 from Mohit Jewellers in Kurabar. The accused, Shiva alias Shivlal Kanjar, Kalulal Kanjar, and Mahendra Kanjar, residents of Chittorgarh, allegedly stole 100kg of silver and 200gm of gold worth Rs 1.80 crore.
Authorities recovered 30kg of silver during the arrests, but three other accomplices and the majority of the stolen valuables remain unrecovered. Investigations revealed the thieves employed unusual methods, including wearing women's attire for reconnaissance and using bird sounds as coded communication. They targeted deserted properties and avoided mobile phones, making their communication untraceable.
All three arrested individuals have extensive criminal histories related to theft and housebreaking. The gang reportedly consisted of six members, with searches ongoing for Arjun, Ramchandra, and Kundan. The theft was facilitated by the temporary absence of the shop's occupants, and although the thieves broke CCTV equipment, footage from a nearby shop aided in their identification.
