Ring Cam Captures SUV Dumping Body, Then Returning

A 58-year-old Uber driver was fatally shot on Thursday after being carjacked in Lawrenceville. Security camera footage from a neighbor's Ring doorbell was instrumental in the swift investigation. The video showed a black SUV stopping, the trunk opening, and a person getting out before driving off and leaving the victim on the ground.
The same vehicle later returned to the scene, according to the footage, which was recorded around 4:45 a.m. on January 2, 2026. Investigators used advanced technology to track the vehicle, leading them approximately 10 miles away to Hardwood Circle in Lilburn.
There, officers apprehended a 15-year-old boy, who is now facing charges as an adult for murder. The victim's identity has not yet been released, but he is described as a grandfather who was working at the time of the incident. Uber has stated the rider's account has been banned.
