In a recent crackdown on drug trafficking, the prohibition enforcement unit in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, arrested two men on October 16, 2025, for possessing 2kg of ganja. The suspects, identified as S Vijay (26) and K Ilayaraja (24), both hailing from Attur in Salem district, were apprehended near the Amman Temple bus stop on Sankari Road.
According to the inspector, Prabhavathi, the duo was attempting to sell the ganja, which was packed in 100g packets, in the local area. The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the authorities.
After their arrest, the two men were presented before the Tiruchengode sub-court and remanded to the Namakkal sub-jail under judicial custody. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing to uncover the source and distribution network of the seized drugs.
