Copper Theft Attempt Foiled at Georgia-Pacific Plant

Police apprehended two individuals late Saturday night in connection with a suspected break-in at the Georgia-Pacific Wood Products facility. Officers responded to a call reporting suspicious activity at the plant, which has previously been targeted for copper theft. During the response, one suspect was observed evading officers between buildings and was apprehended with the aid of a K9 unit.
The second suspect was discovered concealed behind another structure on the property. Authorities reportedly found a collection of tools that are believed to have been used in the alleged burglary attempt. Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Glynn County Detention Center to await processing.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jeffery McKinney, 48, of Baxley, and Marshall Latimer, 37, of Gainesville. Both face charges of burglary, and McKinney is additionally charged with obstruction. The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing, according to law enforcement.
