Actor Tusshar Kapoor Targeted in Rs 5 Crore Extortion Plot

Actor Tusshar Kapoor has been the target of an alleged extortion attempt, receiving a call demanding Rs 5 crore. The individual making the call claimed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a group known for criminal activities.

Following the incident, Kapoor informally alerted Mumbai Police, who have since increased his security detail. The investigation has been assigned to the Crime Branch, specifically its Anti-Extortion Cell, to thoroughly examine the threat. Authorities are working to determine the authenticity of the claims made by the caller.

Initial findings from the Crime Branch's technical team, including an audio analysis of the threatening call, suggest that the voice does not match official samples of known members associated with the Bishnoi gang. This has led investigators to suspect that the caller may have impersonated a gang member to intimidate the actor and extort money. No First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet as the probe continues to identify the source of the call.
