18 May
Summary
- Man arrested for allegedly submitting false export permit paperwork.
- Attempted to export 292 loggerhead musk turtles to Taiwan.
- Accused of violating the Lacey Act and conspiracy charges.

Donald Do was arrested on Friday, May 15, 2026, facing charges of conspiracy and violating the Lacey Act. Federal officials allege he submitted fraudulent paperwork to secure an export permit. This permit was intended for the shipment of 292 loggerhead musk turtles to Taiwan. The alleged criminal activity spanned from December 2022 to May 2024.
Do is accused of purchasing turtles poached from the wild after obtaining the export permit. He also allegedly attempted to acquire over 200 additional turtles from Albert Bazaar, who is currently detained on separate turtle trafficking charges. Bazaar purportedly misled the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service by falsely claiming Do had raised the turtles himself.
Investigators revealed that Do tried to hide his involvement by falsely telling a co-conspirator he had sold the turtles domestically. Loggerhead musk turtles have been recognized as a protected species under CITES since November 2022. Do pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court on May 21, 2026. Conviction could result in up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine per charge.
