Troconis Challenges Murder Conviction: Was Counsel Ineffective?
2 Jan
Summary
- Troconis convicted in 2024 for role in Dulos' 2019 death.
- She claims ineffective counsel during her original trial.
- A judge will decide if her conviction should be overturned.

Michelle Troconis, convicted in 2024 for her involvement in the 2019 death of Jennifer Dulos, is challenging her sentence. She received over 14 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder, hindering prosecution, and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors alleged Troconis aided Fotis Dulos, Jennifer's estranged husband, in disposing of her body after her disappearance.
Her body was never recovered. Fotis Dulos, who was engaged in a custody battle with Jennifer at the time, died by suicide in 2020 while facing murder charges. Troconis has filed a habeas corpus petition, claiming her constitutional rights were violated due to ineffective counsel during her trial.
The petition argues her original attorney allowed her to be questioned by police without immunity, leading to statements used against her. Her former attorney has denied these claims. A judge will now review the case, beginning January 5, to determine if Troconis' conviction should be overturned.
