Teachers Arrested for Child Abuse in Trichy

In Trichy, a disturbing case has emerged involving two educators accused of child sexual abuse. A retired physical education teacher, 61, and a 38-year-old private school teacher were arrested under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The charges stem from allegations of making obscene video calls to a 16-year-old student.

The minor victim was reportedly receiving tuition from one of the accused teachers. For several months, the retired teacher allegedly engaged in repeated offensive video calls to the student, with the assistance of the other teacher. Distressed by the persistent calls, the student confided in her school principal.

Acting on the student's account, the principal promptly lodged a complaint with the Thanjavur all-woman police. Following an investigation into the matter, the police registered a case against the two individuals.
