Summary
- A 25-year-old man was arrested for snatching a woman's thaali.
- The suspect later attempted to break into a nationalised bank.
- CCTV footage helped police identify the suspect in both incidents.
A 25-year-old man named Kishore was arrested on Saturday in Trichy following a criminal spree that occurred over two consecutive days. On Friday afternoon, he snatched a thaali chain from a woman walking alone in Thiruvanaikoil, escaping on a waiting motorcycle with an accomplice. This incident was captured on CCTV, with footage circulating widely.
Kishore reportedly discarded the stolen chain after realising it was not made of gold. Later that night, he attempted to force open the locks of a nationalised bank branch on Warners Road. The attempt failed, and he fled the scene. Security guards alerted the police, who examined CCTV recordings and forensic evidence, leading to Kishore's identification.
Cantonment police initiated a manhunt and successfully apprehended Kishore. Investigations are currently underway to ascertain his full involvement in both the thaali snatching and the attempted bank break-in. His associates are also being investigated for potential links to other criminal cases.
