25 Jun
Summary
- A disagreement over closing a train door led to a fatal stabbing.
- The attack occurred on a Churchgate-Nalasopara first-class train.
- The suspect was apprehended while attempting to flee to his hometown.

A fatal stabbing occurred on a Churchgate-Nalasopara train on Tuesday night, originating from a dispute over keeping a door closed during heavy rainfall. The incident involved Roshan Suvarna, 21, and Mayank Lohar, both of whom boarded the train at Andheri station around 10:42 PM.
An argument erupted when Suvarna opened a coach door, letting rain in and splashing passengers. Lohar shut the door, reportedly angering Suvarna, who allegedly felt humiliated. Between Goregaon and Malad stations, Suvarna produced a large knife and repeatedly stabbed Lohar in the chest and abdomen.
Suvarna fled the train near Borivli station, but authorities, using footage from 400 cameras, tracked him to Panvel. He was allegedly planning to escape to his hometown in Karnataka. Police are investigating if Suvarna was intoxicated and have yet to recover the murder weapon, which he claimed to have purchased online.
Lohar was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead around midnight. This tragic event follows a similar incident five months prior where a teacher was fatally stabbed on a local train following a passenger dispute.
