Niece of Convicted Rapist Found Dead in Kolkata Home

On October 19th, 2025, the 11-year-old niece of the convict in the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case was found hanging at her residence in Kolkata. The girl, who had lost her mother, was living with her aunt, Pooja Roy, when the incident occurred.

According to police sources, the girl was alone at home when the tragedy struck. When her family members returned from the market, they found the door to her room locked from the inside. After receiving no response despite repeated calls, they broke down the door and discovered the girl hanging from a structure attached to the wardrobe.

The family immediately alerted the police, and a team was rushed to the scene. The body was sent to SSKM Hospital for a postmortem examination, which revealed that the death was antemortem in nature and caused by hanging.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are questioning the family members and neighbors to determine whether the girl was suffering from depression or if any other factors were involved in her death. The incident has sparked panic in the area, which had previously grabbed attention following the high-profile RG Kar rape and murder case involving the girl's uncle, Sanjay Roy.
