Summary
- 18-year-old J.T. Schroeder fatally stabbed after Walmart altercation
- Schroeder's organs donated to help others in need
- Suspect Delano Middleton has prior assault conviction

On October 27, 2025, 18-year-old J.T. Schroeder tragically passed away four days after being fatally stabbed following an altercation at a Walmart in Georgia. While the exact details of the incident are still unclear, the Chatham County Police Department has charged 48-year-old Delano Middleton with murder in connection with the stabbing.
Middleton has a previous criminal history, having pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault in 2023 stemming from an incident two years prior. According to a 2021 indictment, Middleton was accused of stabbing a victim multiple times. The victim, Erica Young, told local news station WTOC that Middleton had shoved a shopping cart at her and then proceeded to stab her four times.
Despite the devastating loss of Schroeder, his family has found some solace in the fact that his organs were donated to help save the lives of others in need. The staff at Memorial Health hospital in Savannah held an honor walk as Schroeder's body was wheeled to the operating room for the organ donation procedure. "Although losing J.T. was devastating, let this bring light to becoming an organ donor," said Dr. James Dunne. "We don't get, as individuals, get a chance to save someone's life. But this is one way in which we all can save multiple lives."
