Neck Broken: Victim's Final Words Were 'Sorry'

A devastating attack has left former singer and teacher Trudi Burgess tetraplegic after her partner, Robert Easom, broke her neck. While in intensive care, unable to speak due to a breathing tube, Burgess mimed 'sorry' to her children, Jackson and Gina, a poignant indication of the abuse she had suffered.

Easom, described as a serial abuser, was convicted of grievous bodily harm after a swift jury deliberation. The attack followed years of coercive control and escalating physical abuse, meticulously documented by Burgess in her phone. She had become vulnerable after her husband’s death in 2016, a weakness Easom exploited.
