According to police records, Kunal and Rohini were involved in multiple killings, encounters, and attacks on security forces in the region. This includes the murder of Pankaj Birhor and his father on May 25, 2024, as well as an assault on an opium eradication team on February 7, 2024. Their surrender is seen as a major blow to the Maoist insurgency in the area and a significant victory for the law enforcement agencies.
