17 Mar
Summary
- Monique Blackwell stated she did not request the ADVO, but did not oppose it.
- The ADVO prevents Tim Blackwell from assaulting, harassing, or intimidating his ex-wife.
- Blackwell's lawyer claims the ADVO is being used as a weapon and is a weak application.

Monique Blackwell has clarified her position regarding an apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) initiated by police against her ex-husband, Nova FM breakfast host Tim Blackwell. The interim ADVO was granted by Newtown Local Court last Wednesday. Monique Blackwell, a yoga instructor and mother of three, stated she did not request the police to apply for the restraining order, but she also did not oppose it, addressing earlier incorrect reports.
The court documents specify that Tim Blackwell is prevented from assaulting, harassing, threatening, or intimidating Monique. He is also barred from stalking her or intentionally damaging her property. Blackwell's lawyer, Paul McGirr, asserted that the ADVO is being used as a weapon, not a shield, and that the application is weak, with no violence alleged against his client.
Hours after the interim ADVO was granted, Tim Blackwell was observed attending a concert. He had previously announced his separation from Monique Blackwell via Instagram in December 2023. He later discussed the end of his marriage and co-parenting on his podcast, acknowledging feelings of failure but emphasizing their ongoing relationship as co-parents.
The matter is scheduled for further court review on April 15. Blackwell and Monique Blackwell first met in Perth in 2002 when he was launching a radio show. Following their marriage split, Blackwell confirmed his relationship with Lizzie Baxter last year.
