Police conducted a significant crackdown on antisocial behaviour across Thanet during the recent bank holiday weekend, resulting in six arrests. Dispersal orders were enforced in Broadstairs, Margate, and Ramsgate, with officers successfully moving on almost 40 individuals.
During the operation, law enforcement seized speakers and more than 50 canisters of nitrous oxide. Alcohol was confiscated from underage drinkers, and four children were reunited with their families. Arrests in Broadstairs included charges for assaulting an emergency worker and drug possession.
Further arrests were made in Margate for offences such as criminal damage, assault, and public order offences. Police also responded to a disturbance at a fast food restaurant on Margate High Street. A total of 10 stop searches were conducted, with one leading to the discovery of cannabis.
Chief Inspector Ian Swallow stated that additional patrols were deployed due to anticipated large crowds. He commended the joint efforts with local councils and businesses for minimizing crime and disorder, noting that most visitors were respectful and intervention was only needed for "pockets of incidents".
