A fatal road rage incident in Texas has led to a capital murder charge against Jeremy Porter. The 47-year-old man is accused of firing into a vehicle occupied by a mother and her five children on Saturday evening. The shooting tragically claimed the life of 5-year-old Zah'Layah Walter.
Monica Hicks, Zah'Layah's mother, was driving home when her vehicle was targeted near Grant Road and Jones Road. She reported that her car was hit by at least five bullets. While Zah'Layah was pronounced dead at a hospital, two other children in the car suffered minor injuries from shattered glass.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced Porter's arrest on Sunday, September 21. Detectives utilized automated license plate readers to identify and locate the suspect, who is currently held at the Harris County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
