Christopher Sanders was arrested on March 7, 2026, in connection with the suspected murder of his girlfriend, Molly Richards. Richards, 31, was reported missing on January 5, 2026, having last been seen by her father on November 18, 2025. Her father became concerned after receiving texts from her phone, some of which he exchanged with Sanders, who provided conflicting information about her whereabouts.
During the investigation, law enforcement developed suspicions that Richards was not missing but had been murdered. They also came to believe Sanders was responsible. Sanders is accused of murdering Richards on or around November 25, 2025, after they allegedly traveled to South Dakota together. He reportedly claimed she stayed there when he returned to Texas.
Searches of Sanders' and Richards' homes uncovered blood residue and receipts for saws and buckets. Security footage confirmed Sanders purchased these items. Authorities suspect Richards' body was disposed of on Sanders' property in Marietta, Oklahoma. Sanders was taken into custody at his Oklahoma property and is being held without bail in Denton County Jail.
