A convicted murderer who escaped from a northwest Tennessee prison on October 25, 2026, has been recaptured. Jacob Morley, 28, was apprehended in Missouri, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction. Morley's escape from the Northwest Correctional Complex went unnoticed until prison officials discovered him missing during a nighttime roll call.
Security footage showed Morley scaling a perimeter fence and fleeing the facility. He was subsequently seen on surveillance video stealing a pickup truck. This vehicle was later found abandoned in Marion, Illinois. Morley is currently serving a life sentence for the 2022 murder of his co-worker, Cody Birchfield.
Morley was convicted last year for killing Birchfield and burying him under his house. Concerns were raised by friends of the victim about Morley's potential danger to the public while on the run.
