Authorities have apprehended the estranged boyfriend of Maria Popol, a 23-year-old Telford woman found murdered earlier this year. The 27-year-old suspect was captured in his native Honduras last weekend and will be extradited to face murder charges.
Popol was discovered deceased on March 13, believed to have been murdered days earlier. Her family had suspected her estranged boyfriend, alleging he was abusive, and noted his disappearance from social media shortly after the crime, with suspicions he fled to Honduras.
Maria Popol, who had moved from Guatemala in 2023, met her estranged boyfriend in New Jersey. They relocated to Pennsylvania, where she had begun moving into a new apartment. Coworkers remembered her as a woman with "many dreams and a kind heart."
