A 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy have been found guilty of manslaughter following the death of Alexander Cashford, 49. The teenagers lured Cashford to Leysdown-on-Sea, Kent, believing him to be a paedophile. The attack occurred on August 10th of last year after Cashford had given his phone number to the girl.
During the incident, Cashford was chased, hit with rocks, and struck with a bottle by the teenagers. He was discovered deceased with severe injuries. A third teenager, a 16-year-old boy, had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The court heard the attack was not planned with intent to kill but escalated tragically.
Senior prosecutor Natalie Smith stated it was a deliberate and violent attack. Cashford's family expressed that those responsible have been brought to justice. The three teenagers, who cannot be named due to their ages, are scheduled for sentencing in April.
